Ping services allow you to
notify the search engines that you have a new blog post. Both
WordPress and Blogger notify Technorati (the big blogging search
engine), but there are a number of other ones out there.
Pinging them every time you post something on your blog will expand
the number of people who know about it. So it's a good idea to
get in the habit of doing this each time you post.

Make sure to de-select
Technorati from their full list (unless you don't have a Wordpress
blog. After it pings everything, bookmark the results
page. In the future, all you will have to do is open
that page from your bookmarks and it will automatically do the
ping without you having to do anything.

Use this only for the ones
not hit by Pingoat. You don't want to ping the same service
