As you know, blogging is an
important part of your internet marketing strategy. It's
important to have a blog that is separate from your website and can
provide those valuable one-way links to your website.
There are a number of
blogging platforms that make this part of the process easy.
Some are free and some are paid. As I started with no budget
like a lot of small and home-based businesses, I became the Queen of
Free, and track down resources that cost little or nothing for others
like me.
However, it's important that
you have a platform that you're comfortable with and will do whatyou
want, so I recommend checking out several to see what works best for you.
If you know of a platform
that's great and isn't listed here, please drop a note in the
Suggestion Box.
WordPress
This is not only free, it has
the best templates, and automatically pings Technorati (the blogging
search engine). You can also have multiple blogs, so if you do
more than one thing, you can do that here very easily and each one
can have a different look.
If you need assistance in how
to use Wordpress or ideas on what to do with your blog, check out my Nutshell
Guide to Blogging.
Blogger
This one is also free.
I started out blogging here, but switched to WordPress because of the
templates and other goodies. However, a lot of people like
Blogger and it is easy to add Adsense to your blog if you
have one here. You can also have multiple blogs on this platform.
The annoying part of Blogger
is the banner at the top of the page (which you don't get with WordPress).
Typepad
This one is not free, but I
know a number of people who really like it. I have not
used this service, so really can't make a recommendation, but
you may want to check it out.
